Saturday, September 4th, 2021 from 11.00 – 14.00 a.m. West Indonesian Time, Master Program of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University has been holding a public lecture. The theme of this event was “Biofilm biofertilizer: Discovery, Invention, Research & Development” and “The Economic benefit of applying, biofilm biofertilizer technology in agriculture in Indonesia”. The lecturers were Prof. Gamini Seneviratne from the National Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka, and Mr. Mangala Wickramachchi as Director BFCS Company Melbourne Australia. This event was opened by Mrs. Aktavia Herawati, S.P., M.Sc., as the master of ceremony and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ir. Sudadi, M.P.
Prof. Gamini described biofilm biofertilizer in general and then proceeded with a discussion about the beginning of the discovery of biofilm biofertilizer, the development of biofilm biofertilizer including its invention in the process, few types of research that have been conducted, and ended with an explanation of the development of biofilm biofertilizer. Prof. Gamini and Mr. Wickramachchi also explained the economic side of using biofilm biofertilizer and the benefits derived from using the fertilizer. The students who have attended this event were very excited and had a lot of curiosity about Biofilm biofertilizers. There were a lot of questions that were asked by the students related to this topic at the discussion and the answer from Prof. Gamini and Mr. Mangala Wickramachchi were very insightful. This event is expected to add the knowledge of the audience about Biofilm biofertilizers to support integrated sustainable agriculture.
